Internalization

Definition: Internalization is a process of making something an integral part of one’s beliefs. From a psychological perspective, humans internalize cultural norms and values based on input from influential people in their lives. Thus, the process begins outside of the individual. However, once internalization takes place, these views and norms become an unwavering part of one’s belief system.
