Definition:

Psychomotor retardation refers to a slowing down of thought processes and physical activity. Psychomotor retardation is often associated with major depression. The slowed thought processes make it difficult for individuals to perform usual mental tasks that require concentration. Physical activity is also slowed, making it difficult for the affected individual to carry out many day-to-day physical tasks.
