Because struggling with panic disorder and agoraphobia may be lonely at times, it may be heartening to know that famous people with panic disorder have fought the same battles. Thankfully, many famous people with panic disorder and agoraphobia have shared their stories, hopefully, in many cases, offering hope for all of us.

Clay Aiken
Clay Aiken, pop singer and former American Idol contestant, began experiencing panic attacks after the death of his stepfather. The attacks increased during Aiken's quick rise to fame, particularly when he had to make a public appearance. After trying a number of medications, Aiken has found Paxil to be helpful in managing the attacks.
Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore long has been open about her personal struggles and publicly turned her life and career around after overcoming drug and alcohol addiction as a teen. In 2006, Barrymore opened up about her recent experiences with panic attacks and why she will not take medications to deal with them.
Paula Deen
Paula Deen began experiencing symptoms of agoraphobia in her early 20's after both her parents passed away shortly following her marriage and the birth of her two sons. The added stress of financial problems a few years later left her trapped in her home, experiencing panic attacks at the mere thought of leaving. Ultimately, her determination to get well for her sons led to her successful career as a chef, business owner, and television celebrity.
Kim Basinger
Kim Basinger has spoken of her struggles with panic disorder and agoraphobia in many interviews. In spite of the severity of her condition at times, Basinger leads a successful acting career, which includes an Academy Award.
Earl Campbell
Earl Campbell had his first panic attack while driving. In spite of being a running back for the Houston Oilers, the panic attack frightened Campbell more than anything ever had, even during his football career. After learning nothing was wrong medically, Campbell hid at home for a month. He then reached out for help and found relief with prescription medication
David Beckham
Renowned European football player David Beckham has struggled with obsessive-compulsive disorder or OCD for years. Beckham says that he has to organize the objects around him in straight lines or pairs, even when he is staying in a hotel. Although Beckham says that he has tried to overcome OCD, he continues to fight the disorder.
Donny Osmond
Although Donny Osmond has been in front of the camera his entire life, he spent many years feeling anxious about it. The anxiety reached its peak in the 1997 when Osmond was diagnosed with social anxiety disorder. With professional help, Osmond learned to manage the disorder and is doing better than ever.
Ricky Williams
Football star Ricky Williams discovered he had social anxiety after being drafted into the NFL. Never having been outgoing, Williams soon found himself nearly unable to leave his home. For a while, Williams found relief with therapy and Paxil, but continually has used marijuana to self-medicate. Although generally open about his anxieties, Williams continues to have a rocky football career.
