Definition: A condition characterized by extreme, chronic anxiety that disturbs mood, thought, behavior and/or physiological activity. The anxiety generally grows progressively worse without treatment. The anxiety disorders include:
- agoraphobia with or without panic disorder
- generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
- obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- panic disorder with or without agoraphobia
- post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- social anxiety disorder
- specific phobias
